Community Guidelines
Last updated: 15 March 2026
Flare is built for everyone — with LGBTQ+ communities at the heart. These guidelines exist to keep Flare a safe, respectful, and welcoming place for all users. By using Flare, you agree to follow these rules.
Respect & Consent
🤝 Treat everyone with dignity
Flare is a diverse community. Respect other users regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, religion, disability, or appearance. Consent is essential in all interactions — both online and offline.
Harassment & Hate Speech
The following behaviour is strictly prohibited:
- Harassment — repeated unwanted contact, threats, intimidation, or bullying
- Hate speech — content targeting individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or national origin
- Threats of violence — any direct or implied threat of physical harm
- Stalking — persistent, unwanted attention or monitoring of another user
- Outing — disclosing someone's sexual orientation or gender identity without their consent
Violations result in immediate account suspension or permanent ban, including device-level restrictions.
Impersonation & Fake Accounts
- Do not impersonate another person, celebrity, or public figure
- Do not create accounts using someone else's photos
- Do not create multiple accounts to evade bans or restrictions
- All profile information should be honest and represent you authentically
Scams & Financial Exploitation
- Do not solicit money, gifts, or financial support from other users
- Do not promote cryptocurrency schemes, investment fraud, or pyramid structures
- Do not share links to phishing sites or malicious downloads
- Do not use Flare to recruit for commercial or illegal activities
Public Profile Content
Your public profile — including photos, bio, and visible information — must be appropriate for general viewing. The following content is not allowed in public profiles:
- Explicit nudity or sexual content
- Graphic violence or gore
- Hate symbols, offensive imagery, or discriminatory language
- Drug use or illegal substances
- Content involving minors
- Pricing, rates, or direct solicitation of paid services
Private Messaging
Private messaging between consenting adults allows more personal conversation, but the following rules still apply:
- Do not send unsolicited explicit content without the other person's consent
- Do not use messages to harass, threaten, or pressure anyone
- Do not share another user's private messages or photos without their permission
- Do not send spam, promotional content, or repetitive unsolicited messages
Flare does not actively monitor private messages but will review content in response to user reports.
Private Albums
Private albums allow sharing of personal photos with specific users you choose. This feature is intended for consenting adults. Sharing private album content publicly, screenshotting, or redistributing someone's private photos is a serious violation.
Promoted Profiles
Promoted Profiles are verified accounts advertising external services. Promoted Profiles must:
- Be verified accounts
- Not display explicit nudity or sexual content
- Not display pricing or conduct transactions within Flare
- Direct users to external platforms for any commercial activity
Meetup Conduct
Meetups on Flare are user-generated events. When creating or attending meetups:
- Provide accurate descriptions and locations
- Do not create meetups for illegal activities
- Do not use meetups to promote commercial products or services
- Respect attendees and the local environment
- Report any meetup that feels unsafe or violates guidelines
Reminder: Flare does not organise, verify, or supervise meetups. Users attend at their own risk. Always prioritise your personal safety.
Location Safety
- Flare only shows approximate distances — never your exact location
- Do not share your exact address or home location in your profile or messages
- When meeting someone for the first time, choose a public place
- Tell a friend where you're going and when you expect to return
Reporting & Blocking
Every user has the right to a safe experience. If someone violates these guidelines:
- Block — prevents them from seeing your profile or contacting you
- Report — sends the profile to our moderation team for review
You can report profiles, messages, photos, and meetups. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. Reporters' identities are kept confidential.
Enforcement
Flare enforces these guidelines through a combination of AI-powered moderation and human review. Violations may result in:
- Content removal
- Account warning
- Temporary suspension
- Permanent ban with device-level restrictions
Severe violations (threats, exploitation, illegal content) result in immediate permanent bans and may be reported to law enforcement.
These guidelines may be updated over time. Continued use of Flare constitutes acceptance of the current guidelines.
