Your safety is our highest priority. Flare is designed with multiple layers of protection to keep you safe while connecting with others. This guide explains the tools available to you and best practices for staying safe.
Visit the user's profile and tap Block. Blocked users cannot see your profile, message you, or interact with you in any way. They will not be notified that they've been blocked. You can manage your block list in Privacy Settings → Blocked Users.
Flare makes it easy to report any content that makes you uncomfortable or violates our Community Guidelines. You can report:
Tap the report button on any profile. Select a reason: fake account, harassment, inappropriate content, underage user, or other concern.
Long-press any message to report it. Reports include the message context so our team can review the conversation.
Report inappropriate photos on profiles or shared through private albums. Our moderation team reviews all photo reports.
Report unsafe or misleading meetups from the meetup detail screen. Reports are reviewed and action is taken within 24 hours.
All reports are reviewed by our moderation team, typically within 24 hours. Reporter identities are always kept confidential.
Private albums are only visible to users you explicitly grant access to. You can revoke access at any time. Flare notifies you when someone views your shared album. Sharing, screenshotting, or redistributing someone else's private photos is a serious guideline violation that results in immediate account action.
Tips for private album safety:
Tips for safer conversations:
Always prioritise your personal safety when meeting someone from an online platform.
Always choose a public, well-lit location for first meetings. A café, restaurant, or bar is a good choice.
Let a trusted friend know where you're going, who you're meeting, and when you expect to return.
Drive yourself or use a ride service. Don't rely on the other person for transport to or from the meeting.
Trust your instincts. If something feels wrong, leave. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
Never leave your drink unattended and be cautious about accepting drinks from someone you've just met.
Consider a video call before meeting in person to verify the other person matches their profile.
Flare never shows your exact location to other users. Only approximate distances are displayed (e.g. "350 m away"). You can toggle distance visibility off entirely in Privacy Settings → Location Privacy.
Additional location protections:
Flare uses verification badges to help you identify trusted users:
While verification adds a layer of trust, it does not guarantee a person's intentions. Always exercise good judgement when interacting with anyone online.
Flare includes a Quick Exit feature that lets you instantly hide the app and display a safe screen. This can be activated by triple-tapping the screen or shaking your device. Configure Quick Exit in Privacy Settings → Safety Tools.
Flare uses a combination of automated systems and human moderators to enforce our Community Guidelines:
If you're ever in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services. Flare's safety tools supplement — but do not replace — local emergency resources.
For non-emergency safety concerns, use the Contact Support form or the in-app report tools.
